Schoolture for Climate Change: Participatory Design for Inclusive & Sustainable Education

Erasmus+ Sustainability Course for Teachers

Schoolture for Climate Change is a practical Erasmus+ sustainability course for teachers that supports the green transition through inclusive, participatory, and community-based education. The programme empowers educators at all levels—from kindergarten to higher education—to address climate change, sustainability, and social inclusion by engaging learners as active co-creators of their environments and futures. Through hands-on activities and real-life learning approaches, participants develop skills to implement climate change education and sustainability practices directly in school settings.

The course places strong emphasis on inclusion, wellbeing, and accessibility, offering practical strategies to support students with diverse needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Teachers learn how to create safe, supportive, and engaging learning environments where every student can participate meaningfully.

Aligned with the European Green Deal and Erasmus+ priorities, the course promotes climate literacy, active citizenship, and interdisciplinary learning. Schools are seen as community hubs where students, teachers, families, and local stakeholders collaborate to design sustainable and socially responsible solutions. At its core, the course uses participatory design to ensure every voice is heard, fostering equity, belonging, and transformative learning experiences.
