Every Child Shines – Art Therapy Tools for Teachers Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs is a practical 7-day Erasmus+ art therapy course for teachers designed for educators, therapists, and school staff working with students with special educational needs (SEN).

This hands-on training combines theory with experiential workshops, introducing a wide range of art therapy techniques in education, including visual arts, music, movement, theatre, eco-art, and phototherapy. Participants learn how to use these creative methods to support emotional regulation, communication, creativity, and social integration in inclusive classrooms.

The course focuses on applying art therapy tools for SEN students, helping teachers adapt activities to different types of disabilities, including intellectual, sensory, motor, and multiple needs. Participants gain practical, ready-to-use strategies and classroom scenarios that can be immediately implemented in their professional practice.

Aligned with Erasmus+ priorities such as inclusion, wellbeing, and innovative teaching methods, the programme supports teachers in creating safe, supportive, and engaging learning environments for all students.

A cultural excursion is also included, connecting local heritage with creative and therapeutic educational practices, enriching the overall learning experience.

Methodology & Assessment

This Erasmus+ teacher training course follows an experiential and practice-based approach.

First, participants engage in short theoretical inputs combined with practical workshops.
Then, they take part in hands-on activities such as painting, music, movement, theatre, eco-art, and photography.
At the same time, collaborative learning and group work support knowledge exchange.
In addition, case studies and reflective sessions help deepen understanding.

Participants actively experience art therapy techniques in education, making learning engaging and effective.

Assessment

As a result, assessment focuses on active participation and practical engagement.

Participants are evaluated through:

  • engagement in workshops and activities
  • daily reflection and peer feedback
  • practical application of art therapy methods

At the end of the course, participants design their own art therapy lesson or project for SEN students, ready to be implemented in their schools.

Materials, Digital Tools & Learning Resources

Participants in this art therapy course for teachers will have access to a wide range of materials supporting creative and inclusive learning.

Materials include:

  • paints, clay, collage materials, crayons, paper
  • simple musical instruments and eco-materials

Digital tools:

  • online resources and lesson plans
  • shared Padlet platform for collaboration
  • photo documentation of activities

Please bring a mobile phone with a camera. The course team provides all other materials.

Certification

Participants receive:

  • Europass Mobility Document
  • Learning Agreement
  • Certificate of Attendance in line with Erasmus+ quality standards
  • The organisers award certificates after successful completion of the course.

Costs

The 560 EUR fee covers the course tuition, issuing the required Erasmus+ documents, coffee breaks, and a guided tour.
We offer an optional cultural programme in order to provide you with opportunities to explore the wonders of the area. All the details including the destinations and the prices will be sent to the participants two months before the course starts.

Please note:

  • Accommodation, meals, and other transport arrangements are not included and must be organized by participants or their institutionsovers the course tuition, issuing the required Erasmus+ documents, coffee breaks, and a guided tour.
  • Transport to activity sites is subject to an additional fee.
  • Group meals are optional and paid separately.
