Heraklion

Our courses in Greece are run in cooperation with Sineterismos Ergazomenon COMMONSPACE, OID E10008042 – EL

Embark on a journey to Crete, where a tapestry of cultural heritage, pristine nature, and the enchanting charm of old cities awaits you. Explore this Greek gem, where every corner reveals a blend of history, natural beauty, and the promise of a perfect summer escape.

Our courses give you plenty of free time to get to know the beautiful town of Heraklion and roam its historical streets every day, but if you choose to learn more about the country you may also wish to explore nearby natural and cultural attractions, and enjoy local delicacies. Here are a few magical places you might want to visit during your stay:

Knossos Palace: Just outside Heraklion, this ancient Minoan palace is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece.

Chania located on the northwest coast, is known for its picturesque old town, Venetian harbor, and stunning beaches. It combines history, architecture, and natural beauty.

Venetian Walls and Koules Fortress: These historical fortifications offer a glimpse into Heraklion’s past and provide stunning views of the harbor.

The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion boasts one of the richest collections not only in Greece but also on an international level. It houses findings exclusively from the most important Minoan centers, such as Knossos and Phaistos, as well as from other ancient sites, like Gortyn and Arhanes.

Rethymno, located between Heraklion and Chania, is known for its well-preserved Renaissance architecture, beautiful old town, and long sandy beach.

The Samaria Gorge, located in the Samaria National Park in the White Mountains (Lefka Ori), is one of the longest and most beautiful gorges in Europe. The route of the gorge is about 16 km long and leads from the village of Omalos to the coast of the Libyan Sea, near the village of Agia Roumeli. The hike through the gorge offers spectacular views of high cliffs, lush vegetation and a variety of wildlife.

Dikteon Cave, also known as Zeus Cave, is located in the Dikti massif on the Lasithi plateau. According to Greek mythology, it was here that Zeus, king of the Olympian gods, was born. The cave is an impressive geological phenomenon with numerous stalactites and stalagmites, forming fanciful formations.

Social programme

Our Social Programme is a perfect way to experience the beauty of Crete, get to know other participants from EU countries and make wonderful memories before going back home.

May is the best season to visit Crete because of warm (not hot) summer temperatures and fewer tourists around.

We offer one afternoon cultural activity included in the course fee (a guided tour around Heraklion) and an optional, extra paid one-day trip.
